The Core Club of Cannabis: Inside the Most Exclusive Private Members-Only Lounge You Haven't Heard About...Yet
Forget SoHo House. This isn't a place to be seen, it's a sanctuary for people who truly know. No influencer panels, no overcrowded spaces, just thoughtful design for the true connoisseur
I’ve attended cannabis events on rooftops, in desert art installations, at mountain retreats, and aboard luxury yachts, you name it. But nothing has come close to what I experienced this past weekend.
I was invited to the exclusive opening of a new members-only cannabis social club. Think quiet luxury over clout-chasing. More Core Club than SoHo House. And frankly, that’s exactly what both this space and this moment in cannabis culture demand. You may have not even heard of Core Club (unless you’re crazy rich…I’m talking upwards of $100K for a membership fee, you probably have never heard of it.) This new location is that vibe without that price tag.
Let’s go to Sunset Social Club.
A New Chapter For Elevated Consumption
From the moment we pulled up into the designated parking behind the building (which is a HUGE deal for LA iykyk), I knew this wasn’t going to be like the usual cannabis event space. The parking lot has an attendant and won’t leave you praying that you don’t get a parking ticket, a boot, or worse towed. The entrance alone made it feel like you were stepping into a luxury space, private, tucked away, and curated without trying too hard.
Inside, everything was considered. From the interior design meticulously curated to the mocktail menu with some of the finer cannabis beverages on hand. Everything had intention behind it.
The main entrance on the first floor includes member check-in and a dispensary that is open to the public. The dispensary stocks a special selection of cannabis products sourced exclusively from top brands. - EINPresswire.com
Let me walk you through what it’s like from the moment you descend the stairs.
Lining the walls: old post office boxes repurposed into personal lockers for members. At the base of the stairs: a giant vintage safe, a grand piano, and a plush, thoughtfully arranged lounge filled with antique furniture and softly glowing lamps. According to public records, the building dates back to 1927—and you feel it. You feel like you’ve stepped into Old Hollywood.
I couldn’t stop admiring the furniture. Every corner felt intentional. Turns out, much of it was sourced from local estate sales, embedding L.A.’s layered history directly into the space.
I spoke with Pantera Sarah (IG @panterasarah) who curated the interior. She told the stories behind each piece—where it came from, how it was found. Then, in a moment of true serendipity, one of the relatives of a previous furniture owner happened to walk in. She and the curator embraced warmly. She pointed out the tables, chairs, and hat rack that once belonged to her grandfather. His energy lingers in the space.
This isn’t a place built for Instagram. It’s built for the true connoisseur—the type of guest who values detail, story, and design integrity.
Invite Only, for Now
The opening wasn’t publicly announced. One of the founders personally extended the invitation to my husband and me. The guest list was intimate—a handpicked group of creatives, legacy insiders, entrepreneurs, and tastemakers.
No lines. No branded walls. No name tags. No influencer panels. No weed-leaf logos. Instead, a plethora of custom glass pieces including massive Cheech & Chong piece styled like an ice cream truck quietly hinted at the culture within.
This wasn’t just a launch—it was an unveiling. A glimpse into the future of cannabis hospitality. One that honors the artistry of consumption and the community it fosters.
As the first Black female cannabis sommelier, this is the evolution I envisioned back in 2017. It took nearly a decade, but the Sunset Social Club has arrived—and it’s setting the tone for what’s to come.
To join you’ll need to fill out a membership application so keep reading because I’ll get into the perks a little further down.
Why It Stands Out
What distinguishes this club isn’t just the aesthetics or the air of exclusivity—though both are exceptional. It’s the restraint. The intentional avoidance of trends. The belief that cannabis consumers can be as cultured and discerning as any high-end wine aficionado or art collector.
It’s rare to find a space where you can consume flower, dab concentrates, and savor a Michelin-worthy meal in the same room—and it doesn’t feel transactional or forced. You’re not nickel-and-dimed for access to papers, glassware, or ambiance. Bring your own pieces, or borrow theirs. It’s all available—thoughtfully and generously.
Unlike the SoHo House model, this club isn’t about who you know or how many followers you have. There are no forced mixers, no curated photo moments. It's not performative. It’s personal.
Final Thoughts
This is the kind of space that doesn’t need a PR push. Word-of-mouth will carry it. Because when something feels this genuine, people talk—and they come back.
This is the luxury of social cannabis use reimagined. Not for show. Not for everyone. And that’s precisely the point.
Notable Things I Enjoyed That Stood Out
Highlights That Left an Impression
Stündenglass gravity hookahs on every table
Raw rolling papers, Khalifa Kush pre-rolls, and custom glass art crafted exclusively for the club
Members can store personal devices in their private lockers
Sushi platter served, simultaneously In-N-Out burgers hand-delivered in the lounge
The Spicy Marg mocktail was surprisingly delicious.
And then? Pizza from Pizza Girl, dropped at the table without fanfare—just good food, freely flowing
Unlike other places I’ve been to—they kept us fed!
My Only Note?
Add a dessert bar. A rotating selection of small sweet bites, paired with espresso or infused coffee, would be the ideal finish.
